...Ohhh...my aching...Shaz, would you ask the elephant that is sitting on my head to please find somewhere else to rest. Jeepers creepers, what a dream I just had...I was in my quarters, relaxing a bit before my next shift. Laying back in my favorite chair...my eyes shut...just enjoying the last few minutes before heading back down to the Galley. A strange feeling comes over me, and I begin to float towards the ceiling...but not my body...it was like my consciousness pulled away and moved up and parked itself into a corner. I could see myself still sitting in the chair, resting. It was a very odd sensation...kind of like watching a movie, with yourself as the main character.

As I watch from above, the light in the room begins to fade...gradually, ever so slightly...fading...fading...until
I can hardly see anything. Then...after what seems like hours, the door to the room opens by itself, and I strain to see who is there...but can't make out anything, except for the outline of the door frame, highlighted by a distant light in the hallway. As I continue to gaze at the open door, I suddenly sense a presence there...darker then the blackness of the room...a cold, empty, foreboding...it fills the doorway and spills into the room...flowing like a thick, ebony mist...covering everything...heading toward my body...climbing up my legs...across my chest...wraping around my arms...slipping into my eyes...

Drawn by the strange occurrence, I move down from my perch for a closer look. Closer...closer...down...almost there...almost...reaching out...reaching...almost...I can almost touch...no...no...NO...WHAT'S HAPPENING...WHAT'S WRONG...SOMETHING THERE...DON'T UNDERSTAND...WHAT IS IT...
DON'T KNOW...THE EYES...MY EYES...LOOKING AT ME...DARK...DARK...WAIT...A LIGHT THERE...RED...GLOWING...
GROWING...BRIGHTER...BRIGHTER...LOOKING RIGHT AT ME...STOP
...STOP...NO MORE...BRIGHTER...BRIGHTER...A FLASH...LEAPING OUT AT ME...BURNING...BURNING PAIN...SEARING PAIN...STOP...
STOP IT...PLEASE...STOP...

Then...I woke up. Everything was fine. Nothing had happened, it was only a dream. Only a dream. Weird, huh? Must have been that sardine sandwich I had to eat for dinner. Those things always put me off...you think I'd learn my lesson. Man, my noggin sure hurts...Shaz, could I get a little something for the pain please?
